Uncertain Futures
Client: Manchester Art Gallery
Agency: Office Of Craig
Deliverables: Spatial / Community / Exhibition
Role: Project Lead / Designer
Uncertain Futures is a project held at Manchester Art Gallery with American artist Suzanne Lacy, MAG Communities Learning Manager Ruth Edson, MAG Senior Curator Natasha Howes, two University academics and an Advisory Group of Manchester women over the age of 50. It seeks to address the inequalities facing women in Manchester who are over 50 relating to their work, and worklessness. The group work with the local community to try and understand how the issues of gender, age, labour, class, migration status, disability and race are all interconnected, and are impacting women’s paid and unpaid work.
Uncertain Futures combines art, research and activism, and aims to create real social change and positively affect social policy. Alice has worked collaboratively with the Advisory Group, MAG team and Suzanne over the course of the project to act as a creative support through her role at Office Of Craig, to help articulate and creatively reimagine the research findings and stories from women of all walks of life inside a physical gallery space.
