Still Parents: Life after Baby Loss
Client: The Whitworth
Agency: Office Of Craig
Deliverables: Branding / Exhibition / Print / Publication / Community
Role: Project Lead / Designer
Still Parents is the first exhibition of its kind. A platform created to share personal stories, open conversations, and break the wall of silence that continues to surround baby loss.
The exhibition evolved from the Whitworth’s award-winning Still Parents project, in partnership with Sands (Stillbirth and Neo-Natal Death Charity), which supports parents who have experienced the loss of a baby in pregnancy or just after birth. Still Parents was formed as a collective of constituents whom led the exhibition—supported by the gallery and Office Of Craig—with every aspect from curation to interpretation informed by the participants.
Involved in the project at multiple points from conception to delivery, Alice worked with both the Museum team and with the group in session, object selection, and in co-creating the identity and exhibition design whilst leading on production and install of object displays.
Across two exhibition galleries, a combination of artworks and objects, some curated from the gallery’s collection, others loaned out by the participants, and some created and made by them. Interspersed between the displays are their personal stories and responses, poetry and prose, written in their own words.
